In particular, pink colored basketball shoes appear to be populating the sneaker landscape at an alarming rate. Long considered a women's color, pink has become adorining many a basketball sneaker, male and female. There is a reason why. And it is a really great reason.

Kay Yow would be a women's college basketball coach at New york State University who died of breast cancer in January 2009. She had battled cancer in excess of two decades. As a tribute to her battle and her contributions towards the bet on basketball, several large athletic companies have produced pink colored apparel and shoes. These companies contribute some of the proceeds of the sale of these products towards the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, a fund set up like a charity to continue fighting against breast cancer.

Cancer of the breast awareness happens to be represented through the color pink. And becasue Kay Yow dedicated her life to basketball, many of the large shoe information mill now producing many different styles of basketball sneakers inside a pink colorway. Not only are they adding to an excellent cause, but they are which makes it acceptable for males to wear pink on the basketball court.

Or, are they? I have never understood this that in our society a particular color determines an individual's gender. As well as in the case of basketball, a male's toughness or athletic talent. If your man likes the color pink, why can't he wear it on one from the shoes for basketball he owns? I don't have a reason why he shouldn't. But a lot of males do.I suppose testosterone offers quite a bit to do in determing what color you can or can not wear on the basketball court. To every his own.

Fortunately, those basketball players which are alright with pink have numerous options when it comes to purchasing quality signature sneakers. From Kobe Bryant shoes to Lebron shoes to basketball shoes in general; hoopers have numerous "pink" options. They are not only sporting nice kicks, they're adding to an excellent cause.

Whether you love them or otherwise, pink athletic shoes happen to be here awhile and are likely to increase in numbers. Shoes for basketball have changed. Colored, style, and performance. I, for one, love pink basketball shoes. In fact, I gotta go now. Right down to the neighborhood mall that is. There is a pink set of Kobe's with my name on it. I hope they have a size 10.
